Later, the seized items were either burnt down or destroyed by the union members at public place near Ruksin gate.
The conscious citizens here have appreciated the efforts of ARSYU and urged the student and youths to continue their fight against such evil practices prevailing in the society.

ITANAGAR, Jun 17: The Indian Army started a massive plantation drive at Bomdila today. Spearheaded by Maj Gen G Jaishankar, General Officer Commanding, ‘Ball of Fire’ Division, a large number of army personnel and local people including students joined the programme and planted saplings in and around Bomdila area.
While inaugurating the programme, Maj Gen G Jaishankar, said "Indian Army is always there to guide the younger generation about their responsibility towards the society and environment”. On the disclosure of the fact and considering the seriousness of the incident, AdiSU immediately called up police which led to seizure of the rice.
AdiSU also said that it had contacted the DF&CSO, Namsai to enquire whether the rice bags were issued from the Namsai Cooperative Store to which the DF&CSO denied.
AdiSU lodged an FIR with Namsai Police in connection with the incident and demanded immediate arrest of those persons involved in misappropriation of PDS rice and punish them as per law.

ITANAGAR, Jun 17: Four precious lives could have been saved, had the Aalo Electrical Division, Department of Power listened to the numerous complaints lodged by the farmers and land owners for shifting of the transmissions lines running through the paddy fields at Dusin and Bene near Aalo, West Siang. Four women were electrocuted to death on May 20 this year when a power line snapped killing them instantly while they were planting paddy.
According to documents available with this Daily, the first known complaint was lodged by one Nyado Ete in 2006. In his reminder letter to the Assistant Engineer, Kamba Electrical Sub Division in 2008, he clearly mention that electric poles “may be shifted out from the paddy field to save human lives from unseen incidence in near future”.
One Dooda Ete also wrote to the Power Department in Jan 2014 reminding the department to shift the power transmission line passing through the private land. Apart from huge financial losses because of power lines splitting the land into parts as well as agricultural and horticultural crop losses, he cites an example where power lines snapped while his labourers were working at the field.
Gomar Ete who lost his wife in the tragic incident accuses the Aalo Electric Division of being negligent and not heeding to any of the demands for shifting of the poles. Ete alleges that the suspended Junior Engineer who also has a field near the accident site shifted the electric pole from his own field while leaving out the rest. The department knew that disaster was waiting to happen, says bereaved Ete.

DC, ADC alleged of undermining Independency of Judiciary

ITANAGAR, Jun 17: Alleging that Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare, Tai Kaye along with ADC Yupia, Bob Duia, Political Interpreter Tana Kochi and PSO to DC Papum Pare Prahans Yadav had defamed the sanctity of court by forcibly barging into the court room in the absence of Chief Judicial Magistrate, the Papum Pare District Bar Association today demanded immediate suspension and initiate disciplinary action against the DC and his subordinate officers.
In a press conference held here today, the Papum Pare Bar Association claimed that on June 12, 2015 around 3.30 pm, the DC Papumpare and ADC Yupia along with mentioned staffs barged into the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Civil Judge Capital Complex at Yupia in an unruly manner from the backside in the absence of the judge.
Reacting to the behaviour of the DC, the district bar association had called an emergency meeting on June 13, 2015 at Yupia and resolved to take up the matter seriously with higher authorities including the Chief Justice of Guahati High Court. The association informed that accordingly they lodged a complaint letter with Chief Justice of Guahati High Court against the DC and others.
“ The Fast Track Court (FTC) was functioning at Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) when the DC and his subordinate officer forcibly entered in an unruly manner”, alleged Tarak Eha a member of the district bar association cum chairman of committee. Eha further claim that the DC has lowered the dignity of the honourable court by storming into CJM court room and engaged his AK 47 armed personal security officer (PSO) to climb on dias of CJM and swivelled the judge chair disrespectfully.
“DC is creating an unique precedence, we don’t know why the DC is so affected by the CJM”, said Nabam Jallaw president of the Papum Pare District Bar Association while alleging that the DC has not been cooperative since the establishment of the CJM at Yupia in creating infrastructures.
In its complaint letter which was submitted to the Chief Secretary, the bar association expressed shocked that what prompted the DC to break laid down protocols disrespectfully and behave with the legal institution in such a manner. The bar association firmly stated that the DC does not have the power to bully and command over the independency of judiciary by illegally trespassing a CJM and JMFC. The illegal act of criminality by the DC and his accomplice had undermined the independency of judiciary in the country as a whole and state in particular, the associated added.
The association sought disciplinary proceeding to be initiated against the DC and others for disrespecting the honourable court.
DC Tai Kaye in his letter to the Chief Secretary on June 12th June 2015, defended by stating that there is neither personal nor official issue with CJM court Yupia till date in which CJM as the head of the court who bears testimony nor any discussion nor argument to any officer”. The DC further clarified that it was a mere assessment inspection of the damaged portions of the Court as the CJM Yupia requested many times for renovation of CJM room and others.
However, the bar association termed the explanation letter baseless claiming that DC has falsified the facts to escape from his misdeed.

Flood situation persists, disaster dept says ready for any adversity

ROING, Jun 17: The flood situation due to the incessant rains across Anpum to Paglam under Dambuk division of Lower Dibang Valley district has left a trail of destruction for the local villagers.
The existing dilapidated roads have been washed away, disconnecting Bomjir from Dambuk, Anpum from Bomjir and Loklung, and Paglam from Loklung. The only mode of transportation left for the local people to meet their basic requirements is to ride on elephants from far off Aohali to Mebo crossing the turbulent Sisar river. The electricity supply to the area from Mebo has been affected since the last ten days.
The DDMO Roing informed that the department is totally ready to respond to any kind of call of emergency relief. In case the situation gets out of hand, the authorities are ready to air lift and evacuate the affected from the area with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Strangely, the relief items haven't been distributed yet as the villagers are not sure how to divide the 200 kgs of rice among the 200 affected households with a population of over around 900.
The disaster management team is in constant contact with ADC Dambuk and CO Paglam through WT messages on the flood situation, and as per reports from the CO, things are under control and not much damage has been caused yet, stated the DDMO. After inspection of the area and getting the final reports from the CO, the department will provide every kind of relief as per the guidelines. The DDMO also informed that the post disaster response team is ready. For agricultural, horticultural and livestock damages, compensation will be provided @ Rs.25,000 rupees per hectare for complete damage, and Rs.4,500 rupees per hectare for partial damage as per the guidelines. The compensations will be provided within 90 days of the final report. The reports are being submitted by the CO Paglam on daily basis, informed the disaster department.

Tawang, Jun 17: Tawang has been left shocked and appalled by the savage and brutal murder of a 50 year old man at Changbu village yesterday.
The dead has been identified as Juthey Darji Damai of Charduar in Assam who allegedly was brutally murdered by one Badal Tamang, son of Raju Tamang of Udalgiri in Assam.
The perpetrator killed the victim after a row during a drinking spree at 5pm yesterday. The 24 year old Tamang and the deceased worked together as labourers at a construction site.
A team of Tawang police led by OC Lama Dondu and OC, SB Cum CI (P) Kesang Norbu, apprehended the culprit after the informants lodged an FIR at 7 pm.

National highwayor battle field?
Recently hundreds of protestors took out a peace march in Itanagar in solidarity
of Behali incident victims. The protestors were shouting slogan for safe highway
stating that Arunachalees plying on NH52 often become soft target of Assam police
and the people of Assam. On June 5 two Arunachalees namely Tadung Tachang and Chaling
Natung were set ablaze with their Bolero vehicle by the miscreants at Bihali. The
duo somehow managed to escape but received life threatening burn injuries. They were
attacked after a dead body of Assamese citizen was found along Assam-
It is unfortunate that people of Assam use the national highway as battle field.
Citizens of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, who have to travel through Assam, often

Disaster preparedness
Dear Editor,
Through the column of yours esteemed daily, I would like to highlight upon some of the natural disaster like the landslide, flood and earthquake. The landslide; slow moving of loose rock materials down towards the slopes due to gravitational force of the earth, the flood due to the siltation of the river beds and incessant rainfall and an earthquake due to the plates moving towards each other. As the above mentioned disasters, I being a subject specialist would like to say that human being cannot stop the natural disasters but we can prevent/minimize the damages of lives and properties. We have seen the recent natural disasters in and around the capital complex and some other parts of the state. In this regards the concern citizens are requested to avoid vulnerable places, so that the lives and properties could be saved. The question is how prepared is state govt to tackle any kind of emergency, right from the disaster management authority to the state level stake holders of the disaster preparedness.
I request the disaster management department to give the relief compensation to the genuine victims. And also have a request not to pay relief to those who are settling in the vulnerable areas after acknowledging likelihood of loss of lives and properties as they are knowingly waiting for f relief from concern department. The public money should be used judiciously.
At the end, I would like to request the general public to avoid disaster prone areas and be alert to avoid any loss of lives and property.

We need an ATM
Dear Editor,
Smart setups, advanced technologies and urban lifestyle have come up to a new level in Arunachal Pradesh. The works and progress have become faster and more efficient. Educational Institutions, business communities, officers and societies have gained immense success in their respective fields.
So to make the hectic routine of daily transactions, deposits or withdrawal easier we use an ATM frequently and we all feel the importance of it. Itanagar as the Capital doesn’t lack these machines but it has been observed that Jully village, just a few miles away from Capital doesn’t have a single ATM within its boundaries.
The village consist of three educational Institutions (DPS, Don Bosco School, Don Bosco College) with large number of staffs and students. It also has District Jail and the Art of Living Ashram.
The installation of an ATM can take out a lot of stress and frustration from everyone’s mind. The inhabitants of the village need not waste much of their time, money and energy by travelling all the way to Itanagar.
An ATM in such an area would be resourceful.

we done to cause lesser litters around the city? When we have Unions/Associations
for almost everything, why aren’t there one to clean the city? Do we drive as per
the rules and park our vehicles with senses? Do we properly dispose of our non-
Shouldn’t the political elements, cutting across various ideologies and parties,
come together when the need of the hour is solidarity and fraternity and not andolans
and bandhs? Aren’t politicians mocking at the people by politicizing emergency situation
like floods, landslides etc? Are we to care more as to who gets us reliefs/funds,
when the government, both central and state, is duty-
Why always blame the locality, society, and the state, sometimes even our stars for the entire problem, when we are responsible, as individuals, for most of the things that affects us? Should we become part of the problem, or part of the solution? Choice is ours.
